University of Indonesia Reviews Nusantara Development

NUSANTARA  The University of Indonesia (UI) held a review of the Nusantara as a follow-up to collaboration with the NNC Authority in the fields of education, research and community service, on Sunday (10/9/2023). This moment is considered to strengthen the commitment to collaboration, as well as being a pioneer in supporting the implementation of the academic field at NNC.

During their visit, UI and theNusantara Capital Authority (NCA) held discussions regarding the role of universities in NNC in the future. Deputy for Green and Digital Technology Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi said that there are research clusters for universities that can be carried out (according to 24 main performance indicators, KPI, Nusantara development). One of them is through the implementation of education and training, such as community service and human resource development. "This research cluster consists of social-humanities, energy, food and transportation, well-being and environmental conservation, and information technology. We have structured the scope of this research so that it is in line with the direction and vision of the Nusantara's development in terms of brainware, software and hardware, as well as involving the campus and government in the research and education sectors to participate," he said.

In line with this, the Deputy for Social, Cultural and Community Empowerment, Alimuddin, said that the role of research from universities is very much needed as a reference for policy formulation in NNC. He also responded well to input regarding paying attention to health aspects other than education. Deputy Alimuddin said "the development of education and health is an inseparable part of an inclusive city. "It is important forNusantara to prevent gaps in public facilities in the inner and outer areas of NNC, so that construction and revitalization of facilities needs to be carried out."

Continuing what was conveyed by the Deputyof NCA, UI stated that there was a need for the concept of an NNC research hub or center in the Nusantara Capital, namely as an observation place for researchers from various universities in formulating policies onNusantara. "The concept of a hub or research center is needed because many studies cannot always be observed from far away, but must be in the field," explained UI Chancellor Prof. Ari Kuncoro.

Furthermore, Chairman of the UI Board of Trustees (MWA) Noni Purnomo believes that UI will be able to play an active role in the development and application of science forNusantara development. "The development ofNusantara of course will create and utilize various fields of science and technology, of course UI can contribute actively in this matter," added the Chair of the UI Academic Senate, Prof. Nachrowi Djalal.

Apart from conducting an inspection of theNusantara development area, UI also visited the Nusantara Technology House, to find out about the technological concepts that will be adopted in the Nusantara Smart City Blueprint.
