NCA Meets with France Museums to Discuss Museum Development Plans at Nusantara

PARIS – Chairman of the Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA), Bambang Susantono together with Deputy for Social, Cultural and Community Empowerment, Drs. H. Alimuddin, M.Si, Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation, Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi, and Special Staff for Public Safety, Brigadier General Pol. Edgar Diponegoro visited the France Museums which is located at 20, rue Bachaumount, Paris, France on Wednesday (4/10/2023).

The visit of the NCA to France Museums is a form of effort to discuss the development of museums in the Nusantara region. Apart from discussing about just building a museum, the NCA and France Museums also shared knowledge regarding how to build a museum with futuristic technology. "We want to know several things about the latest museum developments. For example, there are museums to see history, but now there are many museum concepts that are more future-oriented. For example, with the use of hologram technology. So, what is projected for the future?" said Bambang Susantono.

The NCA discussed many things related to museums with Junia Jorgji as Director of Special Projects for France Museums and Herve Barbaret as General Director of France Museums. In this discussion, discuss about how unique aspects in museum construction can be the key to success. Therefore, it was also discussed how to build a museum in the Nusantara National Capital Region with futuristic technology, but also able to represent the character of the Nusantara. This is in line with Junia Jorgji's statement, "This is a good opportunity to think "out of the box". The important thing is, don't copy something that already exists."

Besides that, an important element in museums is how to create adaptive technology. This is as stated by Herve Barbaret, "Technology is of course changing very quickly. The technology that was prepared when the museum was built may have changed trends at the time of opening. It is feared that this will not be in line with visitors' expectations. Technology is only a tool,"

Through discussion sessions between the NCA and the France Museums, Indonesia can learn about what has happened in several museums in France. As time goes by, visitors to several museums in France are decreasing. This is due to the lack of maximization of two important things, namely uniqueness and adaptive technology.
