NCA Initiates Nusantara Collaborative Research Program

JAKARTA Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA) through the Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation held a discussion on the initiation of the Nusantara Collaborative Research Program with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Educational Fund Management Institution (LPDP), as well as representatives of several universities in Indonesia, which was held on Friday (1/9/2023), at the Alila Hotel, South Jakarta.

The activity began with presentations from each institution, namely NCA, Kemendikbudristek, BRIN, and LPDP regarding the synergy and collaboration programs that have been designed and those that already exist in each institution to map their potential in joint collaboration.

Ir. Wisnu Sardjono Soenarso, M.Eng., as the Director of the LPDP Research Facility supported the implementation of research for Nusantara. "Nusantara research can be done through the Invitation RISPRO (Riset Inovatif-Produktif) scheme," said Director Wisnu.

Research support regarding Nusantara was also provided by BRIN through the Deputy for Research and Innovation Facilitation at BRIN, Prof. Dr. Agus Haryono. He explained that there are several innovation research funding schemes that intersect with NNCA's duties and functions which might be used to optimize BRIN's research budget to be able to carry out NCA's functions in the future.

The Nusantara Collaborative Research Program discussion also involved representatives from various universities in Indonesia. On this occasion, representatives from the Universitas Indonesia (UI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Universitas Mulawarman Universitas (Unmul), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) were present. Each university conveys the interests and strengths of its respective research clusters, including a research map in the context of the Indonesian capital. One of those who had the opportunity to present his research map was Deputy Chancellor for Research and Innovation of Universitas Indonesia, drg. Nurtami Soedarsono, Ph.D. "UI's research direction in this circle is in line with the targets atNusantara," she said.

Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation, Prof. Moh. Ali Berawi stated that in the future the research map of each institution and university will be adjusted to the needs and concept of development of the Nusantara National Capital. Furthermore, a research consortium will be formed for each cluster to carry out NNC research in synergy.

"We are preparing NIURaD (Nusantara Institute of Urban and Rural Development) which will become one door from the IKN Authority for all activities related to research, technology transfer, knowledge transfer, and activities related to education and community service. "It is hoped that with this we can accelerate urban and rural development by making NNC a living lab through the development of science and mastery of technology," said Prof. Ali.

The discussion participants supported the formation of the Nusantara Institute (NIURaD) as a center for education and research activities, transfer of knowledge and technology, as well as a forum for national and international collaboration for the development of science and technology inNusantara. Director of Research, Technology and Community Service at the Ministry of EducationCulture, Research, and Technology. Prof. M. Faiz Syuaib stated that it was important to start immediately research collaboration. “Everyone agreed to start doing something with the resources we have. NIURAD must be inline with the master plan," said Prof. Faiz.
