IKN Realizes Efficient and Transparent Governance with Smart Governance

NUSANTARA – Nusantara Capital City is being built as a smart city with efficient governance. In the Nusantara Smart City Blueprint, the concept of Smart Governance is explained as the utilization of information and communication technology to create effective, transparent, easily accessible, and public-participation-friendly governance.

"The use of digital technology for governance can enhance transparency in effective and efficient governance. The public can also more easily participate in policies, access information, and handle administration. This will strengthen the image of Nusantara as a smart city," explained Chairman of Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA), Bambang Susantono.

Bambang Susantono emphasized that the smart city of Nusantara will use efficiency as the main foundation in every development. "So, later on, productivity will be maximized, efforts and costs incurred will be as effective as possible. Therefore, technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Robotic Process Automation, and so on, will be widely applied in Nusantara," said Bambang.

According to Deputy of Green and Digital Transformation at NCA, Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi, IKN will be a smart city that can serve as a model for other cities. "Therefore, the design of Smart Governance is made in such a way that urban governance will be easier and can also drive the economy," explained Ali.

Prof. Ali explained that the centralized and integrated Smart Governance System is expected to increase transparency in government operations, reducing bureaucracy, saving time, and operational costs. "There are four solutions or what are called Smart Features in Smart Governance that will be implemented in Nusantara. Starting from City Management & Planning Services, Digital Service for Citizens, Smart Business Permit, and Smart Nusantara," he said.

Furthermore, NCA Spokesperson, Troy Pantouw, added that the implementation of the smart city concept in IKN will make it not only efficient but also innovative and sustainable. "In addition, it is hoped that the participation of the community living in NCA will also increase," said Troy.

A total of six Smart City areas are promoted in the development of Nusantara, namely Smart Governance, Smart Transportation and Mobility, Smart Living, Smart Natural Resources and Energy, Smart Industry and Human Resources, and Smart Built Environment and Infrastructure.

In its implementation blueprint, there will be three main components in the development, namely software to manage data and operations, hardware as physical infrastructure, and brainware, which is the people who control and manage this system.

The application of digital technology in the development of Nusantara is also reflected in Law No.3 of 2022 and Presidential Regulation No.63 of 2022 concerning the Detailed Plan for the Nusantara Capital City. One of the key performance indicators (KPI) of the development is to achieve the highest rank in the UN's e-government development index and obtain a satisfaction rating of >75% in terms of digital service satisfaction for business actors.
