Developing Ecotourism, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Ready to Empower Tourism around Nusantara

JAKARTA - The development around the Nusantara Capital is one part of the development of Nusantara as the National Capital. In this regard, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) is ready to develop tourism and creative economy based on Ecotourism around Nusantara.

"We have been developing tourist villages that have become our partners around Nusantara. In addition, Nusantara is suitable to be developed as Ecotourism," said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno during The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno at the Kemenparekraf office, Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/01/2024)

Tourism and creative economy (parekraf) around Nusantara will prioritize Ecotourism, where this type of parekraf emphasizes aspects of natural conservation, aspects of social, cultural, and economic empowerment of local communities, as well as aspects of learning and education.

75% of the 256 thousand hectares of land in Nusantara will be designated as green areas. It will be easier for parekraf activists to use the ecological aspects in the green areas of Nusantara for future business development.

Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Development of the Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA) Alimuddin emphasizes the importance of improving the tourism level and introducing existing parekraf before the Nusantara project.

"There are already many local attractions around Nusantara that have gained recognition, such as Pulau Derawan, Pulau Maratua, and the orangutan conservation in Samboja (Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation). We will empower these parekraf attractions to a higher level and make them more widely known to the public," said Alimuddin.

Furthermore, Alimuddin added that the development of community resources in Nusantara, especially to support parekraf that prioritizes Ecotourism, has already been implemented. There are 417 MSMEs fostered by IKN that have been facilitated and applied for certifications, such as export capabilities and halal certification. The hospitality sector is also empowered, with more than 100 residents around Nusantara receiving training in this field.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Information & Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Information (KemenKominfo), Usman Kansong, explained that KemenKominfo supports the development of Nusantara with a smart city concept. The ministry has completed the design of a state-of-the-art telecommunications network in Nusantara and is ready to implement it.

KemenKominfo will also build the National Data Center (PDN) to make Nusantara a smart city and create IKN Pedia, containing all information about Nusantara, such as its progress, philosophy, history, and the role of all ministries in the development of Nusantara.
