Conveying Investment Potential, Nusantara Authority Gets Positive Spotlight in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH – Deputy for Funding and Investment at the Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA), Agung Wicaksono, spoke at the Saudi-Indonesian Roundtable Meeting forum that was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Thursday (19/10/2023). This agenda aims to bring together policy makers and investors from both countries to discuss various investment opportunities.

This bilateral meeting forum was held on the sidelines of President Jokowi's visit to Riyadh and was opened by the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Zulkifli Hasan, the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia and Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Invesment Ad Interim of the Republic of Indonesia, Erick Thohir, and the Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia, Khalid A. Al Falih.

In a session coordinated by the Ministry of Investment/BKPM together with the Permanent Representative of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) for the Middle East and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Deputy Agung was the only one to deliver a presentation accompanied by a video about the future vision of the Nusantara National Capital. In front of audience of businessman from both countries, he emphasized the importance of Saudi Arabia as Indonesia's strategic investment partner, especially in developing Nusantara.

“Saudi Arabia is the country where the religion of Islam was born and Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim majority population in the world. The capital city of Riyadh, which means 'Garden' in Arabic, is also in line with the ideals of presenting 'Riyadh' in the capital of the Nusantara as a World Sustainable Forest City," he explained.

At this forum, the Nusantara Authority offered investment in infrastructure development in Nusantara through a cooperation scheme between Indonesia's Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF), the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), Saudi Arabia's SWF, and the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

The investment sectors offered are Renewable Energy, Residential, Connectivity Infrastructure, Ecotourism, and Agriculture to potential Saudi Arabian investors.

"We appreciate that this forum immediately attracted investment interest from Saudi Arabia with the submission of LoI in the renewable energy sector from the largest energy companies which are also participating in building NEOM as their city of the future. "Saudi Arabia's 2030 vision regarding renewable energy is apparently in line with the vision of building the capital of the Nusantara to become a Net Zero city in 2045," said Deputy Agung in attracting investor interest.
