Collaboration between the NCA and the World Class University Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability

JAKARTA The Nusantara Capital Authority (NCA) signed a letter of intent (LoI) with the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability to develop joint research collaboration at the 2023 Indonesia Sustainable Forum (ISF) at Park Hyatt Jakarta on Friday (8/9/2023).

 

The signing was carried out by the Chairman of NCA Bambang Susantono and the Dean of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability Arun Majumdar, accompanied by Pandu Sjahrir and Anindya Bakrie as Stanford alumni and witnessed by the General Chairperson of Apindo, Shinta W Kamdani and the Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) Republic of Indonesia, Rachmat Kaimuddin.

 

The Chairman of NCA welcomed the LoI and said he couldn't wait to see the progress of the research collaboration. "This signing is a good sign and a real transformation in Nusantara development with the entry of world-class universities into Nusantara," he said.

 

 "Apart from being an abbreviation for the Nusantara National Capital, NNC also has the meaning of investment, knowledge, and network. And today, we are bringing these three things together in signing this LoI," added Bambang.

 

On the same occasion, the Dean of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, Arun Majumdar, stated that he was impressed with the construction of the Nusantara. "I have visited many countries but only Indonesia has built a new capital city by paying attention to the principles of sustainability," he said.

 

Arun expressed his respect and happiness for being able to work together on this ambitious project. "What Indonesia is doing in this archipelago shows their ambition to become the greatest," he said.

 

Indonesia was chosen because it plays an important role in the global low carbon transition as a country that has promised to achieve net zero emissions by 2060. This research collaboration will make the Nusantara a trial example of new methods of sustainable urban development and a potential blueprint for other countries to emulate. others, particularly in Southeast Asia.
