As an alternative location for the new capital city, South Kalimantan has the advantage of being in the middle of an area that rarely suffers from natural disasters. The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas held the National Dialogue on the Relocation of the Capital City: "Kalimantan for Indonesia" with the theme of "Towards a Future Capital: Smart, Green, Beautiful and Sustainable" in South Kalimantan, to collect input regarding the possibility of South Kalimantan as a candidate for the new capital city location.
